The Boutique Firm Recorded $1.5 Billion in Sales Predict a Bullish Real Estate Market for Tampa Bay in 2020
Tampa Bay’s largest independently-owned real estate brokerage firm, Smith & Associates Real Estate, celebrates another record-breaking sales year with $1.5 billion in sales volume, an increase of 22% from the previous year. The company has been serving Tampa Bay’s real estate market for over fifty years and recognized associate accomplishments with a party at the Armature Works in Downtown Tampa. With their Developer Services team representing ten projects in Tampa Bay that have completion dates set between 2020 and 2023, Smith feels confident that the Tampa Bay real estate market will be on fire in 2020.
Established in 1969, Smith & Associates Real Estate has grown to be one of the most influential companies in the Bay, with revenues exceeding $1.5 billion in 2019. The firm represents high-profile residential and commercial developments. It is the exclusive listing agent for almost all of Tampa Bay’s high-profile towers, including The Edition, Riverwalk Place, Hyde Park House, Elevé 61, The Sanctuary, Saltaire, and Altura. Smith & Associates Real Estate is the number one luxury brokerage firm of $1M + residences in both Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties.
President and CEO, Bob Glaser, says his company’s focus on investing in employees, giving back to the community, and fostering strategic partnerships will continue to inform the company’s growth strategy. “As Tampa Bay has grown, so have we. We’ve had tremendous success and are bringing over 2 billion dollars of inventory to the local market in the upcoming years, representing developments in downtown Tampa and St. Pete. Yet, we anticipate that marketplace demand will outpace available inventory.”
According to the real estate website Zillow, Tampa home values went up 3.9% in 2019 and Zillow forecasts they will rise an additional 4% in 2020. Tampa also ranks 4th among the nation’s The most popular investment markets, according to Realtor.com® .
While the Smith team celebrated their record-breaking year and the associates with exceptional sales, the organization also presented their most coveted honor, The Mary Smith Conover Citizen Award, which honors the spry 93-year-old founder of Smith & Associates Real Estate. The award is a nod towards the company’s founder and keeps the philanthropic intention at the forefront for every associate. This year’s winner was Becky Slocum clocked nearly 1,800 volunteer hours with The American Red Cross and is a member of the Disaster Action Team, working on-call shifts throughout the night from 6 PM – 6 AM.

Feb 8th – Tampa Theatre Wine Tasting – 7pm
When the Tampa Theatre began their restoration campaign in 2017, Smith & Associates Real Estate made a sizable donation to the Tampa Theatre. This gift allowed the Tampa Theatre to create a permanent concession stand, an important part of the 90-year-old theatre’s extensive multi-phase renovations to address critical infrastructure, enhance the patron experience, and restore its historic beauty.
Bob Glaser, President and CEO of Smith & Associates Real Estate, calls the Tampa Theatre “a local treasure that calls for community support” and has served as a Board Member for many years.
“Upon entry, you feel as though you have stepped back to another era of time and are in awe of the palace-like feel within the theatre. There are so few of these movie palaces in the nation, and to have this jewel in Tampa Bay, calls for community support,” says Glaser.
Their biggest fundraising event of the year is coming up, Winefest 2020: Cabbyshack, and we are a sponsor. Please join us and support this iconic theatre in Downtown Tampa. Tickets available at tampatheatre.org/annual-event/winefest-2020

While we have a full calendar of community events that support the arts, education, equality and other causes that are dear to us, the annual Heart Walk is one of our favorites. This year, we joined forces with our friends at Strategic Property Partners (SPP). SPP is a full-service commercial real estate development firm with an incredible project coming to downtown Tampa, Water Street Tampa. By forming one team, our two companies walked together in the 2019 Tampa Bay Heart Walk to have an even greater impact on our abilities to raise funds this year.
Smith has sponsored a team for the past 6 years and promote it internally with pre-walk events and healthy living workshops. Last year, we hired a yoga instructor to come to our offices to give our employees a stretching break. We also have encouraged employees to participate in strengthening classes in office, at no charge to them. The Heart Walk becomes a culmination of stressing the importance of a healthy lifestyle and how giving back to help others is also a tool to heath.
Our CEO, Bob Glaser, walks with us every year and we make it a fun family outing for all. Bob has also been a member of the American Heart Association’s Executive Board three times and started to support the walk after losing a close family friend to a heart attack.
By participating in the Heart Walk, we join a million Heart Walk Heroes from across the nation to raise funds for lifesaving science. Science that can teach us all how to live longer and be Healthy For Good. Heart disease and stroke are the #1 and #5 killers in the U.S. Please help fund lifesaving science by making a donation here.

We are rallying behind one of Smith’s family members, Maggie Bush, and joining her as she walks in The Celma Mastry Ovarian Cancer Walk on September 21st in downtown St. Petersburg, FL. Maggie has been fighting Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer and is now pronounced NED (No Evidence of Disease). Her strength and positive spirit throughout the experience have been truly inspiring and we are proud to be able to walk by her side and support a cause that she believes in.
Maggie is planning to be healthy enough to walk the 5K in the Celma Mastry Ovarian Cancer Walk in St. Petersburg on September 21st. She will be the Team Captain of SERENDIPITY. Maggie says she chose the team name Serendipity because “I have found such joy in the most unexpected places. My life is fuller and happier, and I have to say that having cancer has made me appreciate everything so much more”.
Smith has been a long-time supporter of The Celma Mastry Ovarian Cancer Foundation recognizing the help they provide through research, support and advocacy for a disease that is often diagnosed too late. The Celma Mastry Ovarian Cancer Foundation was started in 2003 by family and friends of a woman named Celma Mastry who passed for the disease and struggled to get it identified. The foundation was established to help other women who were also suffering from this “silent killer” with a mission of uniting family, friends, and community to fight ovarian cancer.
About the Race: The Celma Mastry Ovarian Cancer Foundation race starts at Albert Whitted Park in beautiful downtown St. Petersburg. The runners and walkers get to experience a beautiful sunrise. Most of the course is along the waterfront with city streets closed to traffic. All participants receive a great t-shirt and finisher’s medal and get to cheer for women who inspire so many with their strength. Great refreshments and music as well as loads of competition among teams! The 5K and 10K and 1-mile courses are USATF-certified (#FL11071EBM) with chip timing for the 5K and 10K.
While Maggie is NED, she still has many struggles ahead due to damage caused by the chemo. Her brothers sent her to New York City and joined her on September 7th for the TEAL Walk, which is a fundraiser for ovarian cancer awareness. Early detection is key to better outcomes, but normal blood tests and annual PAP’s don’t detect ovarian cancer. Thus, it’s often not discovered until it has reached Stage 4.

Smith teammates at last year’s Celma Mastry Ovarian Cancer Walk
The 2nd Annual Charity Music Concert in Westchase was Saturday, Sept 14th and we were a sponsor! This event showcased over 25 student musicians and performers from the Tampa Bay area for an evening of music, song, and dance. Among the performers were the Alonso Varsity Cheerleaders, the Robinson H.S. Starlet dancers, Dawson Dance Academy, and the Davidsen Middle School Chorus. 100% of the proceeds of the event went to the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay and the Speak Up CKG Foundation whose mission is focused on bringing hope and awareness to teenage mental health.
With an office in Westchase and many Smith associates living in the Westchase community, we wanted to be involved in an event that contributes to the arts and gives back to organizations working with mental health in our youth. The Westchase area has excellent schools, a family-friendly atmosphere and is community-oriented. Pedestrian-friendly trails, golf courses, swimming pools, and an urban center with shops and restaurants make this a nice to live for people of all ages.
Whether its a big music festival or a local showcase for the youth artists in our community, Smith is there!
