Design-forward five-star property marks EDITION brand debut in Tampa and includes city’s first hotel-branded condominiums
TAMPA, FL (August 14, 2019) – Strategic Property Partners, LLC (“SPP”) today announced that construction has commenced on The Tampa EDITION Hotel & Residences within Water Street Tampa, the 56-acre development transforming the city’s downtown waterfront. Comprised of hotel rooms and private condominium residences on the upper floors, The Tampa EDITION marks the debut of the luxury brand in Tampa Bay.
Created through a pioneering partnership between hospitality innovator Ian Schrager and Marriott International, the EDITION brand prioritizes commitment to unprecedented design and an elevated hospitality experience. Spanning 27 stories in the heart of the Water Street Tampa neighborhood, The Tampa EDITION is scheduled to open in the spring of 2021 and will include 172 guest rooms and suites and 37 exclusive for-sale, hotel-branded residences on floors 10 through 27, the only offering of its kind in Tampa.

A rooftop pool on top of the hotel with an indoor and outdoor bar and restaurant will offer striking views of the city skyline, while an intimate restaurant adjacent to the hotel lobby will become a culinary destination within the neighborhood. Additionally, as has been done in other EDITION hotels around the world, the Ian Schrager Company will curate and program a range of additional restaurant and entertainment spaces, including a lobby bar, lounge, market and entertainment venue.

Tampa Bay’s market for homes priced over $1 million is hot. While the term luxury can be overused or inappropriately used in the real estate industry, in most major metropolitan markets, luxury is defined as homes priced at $1 million and above. Analyzing trends in this price point can be a valuable indicator of an area’s attractiveness and growth.
According to Dodge Data & Analytics forecasts, in recent years, something changed in Tampa. It has joined the ranks of re-energized U.S. cities. Large-scale, mixed-use developments are springing up throughout the city, with more than $13 billion in nonresidential and multifamily projects expected in the pipeline by 2022.
The Urban Land Institute’s 2019 Emerging Trends in Real Estate® noted Tampa’s population is increasing by 50,000 people a year and it rose from 35th for overall real estate prospects in 2015 to 19th overall and 7th for development in 2018.
And, in 2018, Smith & Associates Real Estate emerged as the luxury real estate market leader. They sold over 18% of the luxury market share and sold over $700 million in $1 million-plus homes.
