Becky Slocum Community Builder Award

Becky attended Washington State University majoring in Business Management and Sociology. She began her career with a small independent real estate office in Washington state. She later decided to cross the US, typical of her competitive spirit, and relocate to Tampa, Florida. This good fortune landed her an important position at Smith and Associates Real Estate as an Administrator which quickly transitioned into the Marketing Department where she would soon become its’ Director. This position proved to identify her strong marketing talent as she became an integral part of the Re-Branding of Smith and Associates, a move that catapulted a resurgence of the company in the market.

Becky became an advisor to the real estate agents within the organization as the expert on how to successfully market their properties online, in print media, and with direct mail, resulting in success for the company. After 5 years as Marketing Director, Becky transitioned into general real estate in 2009. Her experience with contract negotiations as well as her ability to correctly position properties in the market allowed her to become a top-selling agent in the company and consistently ranks her in the top 5% of Realtors in Hillsborough County.

Outside of Real Estate Becky is heavily involved with the American Red Cross volunteering with Services to the Armed Forces and is a leader for the Disaster Action Team, responding to home fires and natural disasters in the middle of the night to provide assistance to those in our community who need it most. Their Disaster Action Team volunteers are among the first on the scene, following the first responders. Volunteers respond to approximately 3 disasters a day, sitting beside each family to listen to their stories and see how they can help. The volunteers then provide anything from food to shelter to specialized supplies and support.  Dedicated to the organization, Slocum also became a member of the Mass Care team and driver for the Emergency Response Vehicle for the Red Cross. Last year, Slocum clocked nearly 1800 volunteer hours with The Red Cross.
